As I mentioned yesterday, today is Fred and Annie's 2nd Gotcha Day!? Fred and Annie are 2 of the OMBR 24.? They arrived in New Jersey on a Saturday night, after 2-3 days of travel by caravan from Arkansas.? When we finally got home, it was close to 11 pm.? As soon as we got out of the car, we were cornered by my neighbors 2 terriers, and I immediately went into mommy-mode (if you hurt my babies, I'll...I'm still not fond of those dogs!!)? Anyway, we escaped and went inside to get settled.? My sister-in-law and niece had come with me to pick up Fred and Annie and my niece, who was 10 at the time, was sleeping over.? We decided to sleep on the pull-out couch in the living room, so that Fred and Annie would have company.? At first, they fell asleep on the beautiful bed my mom had gotten for them.? However, by morning, they had joined my niece and me on the bed!? I guess I didn't need to worry about them making themselves right at home!

?

I look back at pictures from that first night and the next morning.? Annie looked so weary...tired and scared.? She was only 3, but had clearly experienced much more than she should have.? Fred was as goofy then as he is now, but he was so skinny!? Now, Annie is a Princess with a capital P!? She is still a little timid, but she is also VERY demanding and clearly feels that she is the superior being in this house!? Fred is a canine vacuum (except when it comes to eating dog food...that's beneath him), so he's no longer skinny.? He still loves everyone, and everything to him is a great, fun adventure!

As I type this, they are laying next to me on the couch, perpendicular to each other.? I, as usual, am sitting in whatever space is left.? However, I would never want to go back to the days when my couch was not permanently covered in a ratty old blanket and two beautiful bassets...my life is SO much better with them in it, dog hair, drool and all!!

?

Thank you again OMBR, Mid-ABHR and everyone who helped in the transport that got Fred and Annie from Arkansas to NJ...we will be forever grateful!!

?

Rose (the good FAR outweighs the bad), Fred (I love my mommy!) and Annie (I'm VERY protective of my mommy...)
