Riche-
This is a rare effect of Proin. Normally people say their dogs can't sleep and seem restless. Phenylpropanolamine, trade name Proin, is a nervous system stimulant which increases sphincter tone in the bladder. When Flash was on it I cut it down to 50mg once a day in the morning. But the lowest dose you can get them too without having accidents is ideal. This medication was marked as Dexatrim in humans and is no longer sold without a prescription due to a proposed increased risk of stroke in younger women. In Europe, however, it is still available by both prescription and over-the-counter. In Canada, it was withdrawn from the market on May 31, 2001. As far as medications to control urinary incontinance there is only one other DES which is a hormone. Proin is safer but there can be different side effects in different dogs.
