[Dailydrool] do Basset ears float?

My husband and I were in the midst of our favorite weekend task - 
washing/scrubbing Onslow's ears. The process starts by briefly 
soaking the ear in my 4c measuring cup full of soapy water. Then I 
use an old tooth brush to loosen the gunk that encrusts the front 
edge of his ears. It was the soaking part that led me to ponder:  "If 
Onslow was in water - acknowledging that he would never be a swimmer 
- would his ears float?" Now I know Basset Hounds are not necessarily 
great swimmers with their heavy bodies and short legs, but I'm 
guessing the ears would/do float, yes? Can anyone verify?
