I have had Conley at two different handler/trainers trying to get his head
up for the show ring. The breeder saw him Friday in the ring and within ten
minutes had his head up. It turned out that nobody noticed I did not know
how to put the collar on to the best advantage of the dog. It kept slipping
down his neck. One "trainer" even gave me a different lead to use but the
problem was, I simply didn't understand how to arrange the collar and all
that excess skin under the jaw!!!
Ten minutes and the boy has his head up and looks like a Pro. (I don't. I am
a terrible handler, but he looked great.) Lost Friday and Sunday, won Sat,
got one point towards his championship, I can die happy: this is Conley--he
is "pointed".

On Saturday I got lost kind of going home and found myself driving through
downtown Chicago, something that would have panicked me a year ago, but I
noticed that I was at least going the right direction (SE) and figured I'd
find an exit to something I knew about sooner or later, and I did.Besides I
had that point and so nothing could matter.

Sunday I lost and left early, and in the parking garage as we were leaving
to go pick up the table and crate at the Center, someone backed into the
Van, doing damage to the right front fender but not taking out the
headlight. I was SO annoyed. It was not my fault at all, and then the woman,
who was almost exactly my age, was so flustered by a series of mishaps and
the fact that she had to drive in this traffic (the usual edge-of-the-Loop
traffic) and I understood her terror only too well.It has taken me YEARS of
coaching by my best friend, Susan, to learn to drive the tollways without
freezing at the wheel, and to not panic if I make a mistake. Years.
Literally.

And, the worst part of this whole thing?
I FORGOT TO GET A PHOTO of Conley with his BOW ribbon!!!! Argh. Someone just
shoot me.
