[Dailydrool] Purdue vet, anyone NOT happy?

Please don't take this the wrong way .... I consider you lucky to be in the
situation you are in. Its not that I would wish cancer on anyone or any
hound or other animal.. but .. that you and Rose get the chance to get
information back into the cancer treatment specialists... things that might
make it better for *EVERY* hound ...

I would approach these issues two fold ... first I would get things spelled
out, get things printed, and get things down so that when I walk in that
door I would TELL THEM ... "as I understand it, today my Rosie is supposed
to get medicine X" ... or "last time Rosie received medicine Y and as I
understand it she is to be on a rotation, the other two drugs being X and Z,
which will you be giving today? and at what dose?"

that is.. I would be one step in front of them, so they know what *I* am
expecting and so that its forefront in their minds for the treatment. And
if possible, tell them, I get to be in the room while you're starting
treatment, and while there you want to see the bottles, know the dose
amounts, so you can mark it down, REGARDLESS of *their* records.

SECOND, since they are supposed to be a teaching hospital, I WOULD NOT STAND
for ONE moment of a Vet trainee's dismissal of me as the owner/guardian of
my hound, nor would I stand for issues like that of the person that came in
needing help for a birth.. I would make it my mission to make sure the knew
I was *NOT* going to tolerate their BS .... they need to learn NOW, before
it takes them years of wondering why people start to dislike their services,
or why they have issues of non-repeat owners, and if they dismiss me, my
next report goes to head of the veterinary department, and the dean of the
college they are associated with.

I'm serious... it is inexcusable for them not to handle emergency situations
with the urgency required, and just as much so for any issue that they are
not willing to understand, and consideration to offer or explain. Years
from now I would want that vet man or woman to look back on their training
and know that even if someone isn't saying so, that they have the wisdom or
at least the experience to figure out something is wrong between them and
their customers/patients.

You're in a spot where you could be fighting not only for Rosie, but for
future hounds, and future patients these students see. Aside from not
seeing the same vet in training each time.. I would expect to keep notes,
and see that each trainee is up to speed and snuff with the last trainee's
treatment and diagnosis if any issues were seen, etc.. its only through
THEIR note taking and passing on to the next, that they can truly build a
view of each patient they see.
