[Dailydrool] heartworm testing

Do dogs need to be tested annually for heartworm if they are on prevention
year round? Another question, if a dog has tested positive and been treated
for Lyme disease in the past year, do they need a vaccine?? I understood a
vaccine was to prevent a disease but if they already had it and was treated
for it, why get the vaccine?? My vet sent me a reminder for both of these
tests and I'm not sure if they are imperative yearly tests or just a way to
get a little more money out of us. With 3 dogs now, I hate to spend money on
unnecessary tests when that money could go for other things.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Tina and the crew in MA.
