[Dailydrool] Chill

My kids would say some people on this list need to take a chill pill. I guess if people didn't care so much about bassets and their issues no one would care what anyone else says. For folks to get this worked up, there has to be a great deal of passion involved. That is as it should be. Bassets can be hard to tolerate for people who don't really love them.

The world is a splendiforous place if one takes time to look for the splendor. Part of the wonder of the world, is that is full of so many varieties of animals, people, and cultures. The Drool is fabulous place in the basset corner of the world. What makes it such a great place is that people and bassets of all different backgrounds can come together and share some of those backgrounds with each other. A lot of us are here to read and learn. A lot of us have things to teach. That's what makes this whole thing work. Give and take. Everyone has an opinion based upon their background. So everyone is different. What a boring place the world or the Drool would be if everyone were exactly alike. It's the differences that make us interesting and interested in one another. Everyone has something to contribute. Some can speak foreignish languages very well. Some know a lot about illnesses and medicines. Many know how to discipline and relate to bassets(mules on short legs). Some have a talent for raising money, and others have hearts and homes big enough to take in hounds who would otherwise have no hope. Everyone is unique and has their own special niche to fill.

I am no expert in psychology, dog or human, but I think that a couple of addages might be useful here. If everyone treated everyone else like they would like to be treated, things might run smoother. My old memory can dredge up one more thought before it runs out of steam and that is: If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. Maybe that is a little too cut and dried but the underlying sentiment says that kindness works wonders. Try looking at things from the other person's perspective.

Now that I've stuck my nose in where it probably didn't belong, I will bid everyone a safe and peaceful good night. Three out of four hounds here send sleepy, snorey snooters to all the other hounds and their people. The fourth hound is seeing if there are any chicken crumbs on the blanket where a plate fell after Ninja hoovered it off of the top of the couch. She couldn't quite get the glaze off of the stoneware. Marley is now digging for buried treasure without much success.
