There are basicly 3 methods of breeding:  Outcrossing, linebreeding
and inbreeding.   Outcrossing is breeding totally unrelated
dogs.  Linebreeding is breeding related dogs, usually dogs that are
descended from a single dog to increase the genetic influence of that
particular dog in the puppies.  Inbreeding is the breeding of close
relatives - father/daughter, brother/sister, etc.  Linebreeding is
probably the most frequently used.  It is how breeders establish a
line and a "look" that is common to all their dogs.  When
done by a knowledgable breeder it can be very succesful.  Outcrossing
is usually done occasionally to bring in some characteristic needed in a
linebred line.  There are a few breeders who only outcross.  I
personally don't agree with this method as you end up with endless
variables and can't get any cionsistency, plus you introduce lots of bad
along with the good.  Inbreeding is useful when done by someone who
takes the time and effort to really know the dogs in the pedigree.
It is generally done just occasionally.  With inbreeding, you are
strengthening the characterisics already in  the line.  You
double up on characteristics you hope to "set" in your
dogs.  I have done this myelf to try to "set" the
characteristics my beloved Fuzzy ATB had.  The tricky part here is
that it doubles up on ALL characteristics, so you need to know whatis
likely to be lurking in the pedigree.  You will also double uup on
the bad stuff, like recessive health problems, so lots of study is needed
before trying this.

As to this particular breeder, I have
always said that not all show breeders are reputable and not all reputable
breeders show.  It pays to do ones homework before selecting a
breeder.
