[Dailydrool] Anals

For those of you who think anal gland discussion is TMI just skip this post!
 
There is no easier procedure for my Basset Hounds than anals - I do it in the tub when they are all lathered up well with nice smelling shampoo.  On both sides of the tailpipe you will find walnut sized (if you do not do them regularly - ours are much smaller nuts!) glands.  All you do is locate them with thumb and forefinger and gently bring your fingers together - under tailpipe.  The gunk squishes out and goes right down the drain!
 
Now in the vet's office this is a disgusting internal procedure.  In the tubby at home it is so much easier than nail clipping or ear flushing - trust me!
 
We do it every week and it is just a little drip - annually or quarterly or whatever it is a major deal - as a regular part of grooming it is an easy task!  Come to Orlando to visit and I will teach you!
