The respone to out two inside cats have totally different to the new little buppy...Here is Xena, the warrior Mouser's response.

Xena, The Warrior Mouser, a.k.a. Xena, the Basset Bruiser
I'm Xena, the Warrior Mouser; catching mices is my claim to fame.
I would chase and catch those mices, that's how I got my name.
But things round here are changing, no little mices do I see;
Yikes! Walking in my doorway was a mouse as big as me!
I hissed and spit and bared my teeth, all to no avail;
For this big mouse was not a mouse, but a houndie; I went pale.
A sniffing DOG, with great big feet and a tail that wags and wags,
She sniffs and slobbers and drinks my water and even my toys she snags.
She sniffs my ma, and licks my pa, and nuzzles on their faces.
Oh dear, oh dear, there's a challenge here, we not be trading places!
All social like she came at me and tried to share her drool;
A friendly face? Not in this place, does she think I'm a fool?
Those big, sad eyes and long, long ears, and slobbery, licking tongue;
I'm not a sucker like my sis, I won't cut and run.
I just fluffed my tail, and popped my nails, and touched her on the nose
And off she ran with nose in hand and so the story goes.
That swipe I took, not big in my book, was just enough to scare her;
No sniffing dog will come at me, just try, I'll glare and dare her!
I remain: THE QUEEN. I'm Xena, the Basset Bruiser, new name, same game!

Have to tell you they new puppy and the old cat were both asleep on the bed this morning, my husband was the fence...we are having a cease fire.
