[Dailydrool] Some drool for xylitol poisioning needed!

My friend is extremely worried, her beagle Fred (short for Winnifred), ate a
whole pack of trydent gum. Yes, the stuff with Xylitol in it! Well, turns
out she didn't know it was toxic, so she roudned up poor Fred, and took her
to the vet. Vet said a dog her size, 3-4 pcs. could be fatal if left
untreated; she ate 16! So, they've pumped her stomach, and are giving her
charcol in hopes it'll absorbe any residual. So far, it looks as if she's
going to make it! But, they still have to make sure the charcol absorbed all
of it, and that Fred is fine. Her momma is hoping to collect her from the
vet's this evening. I know she's a beagle, not a basset, but she's a hound
none the less, and is one of Joey's on-line doggie friends (her momma & I
went to college together, and keep in touch via facebook), so it's kind of
basset related.

Though, to make it directly related, I wouldn't have known about the Xylitol
being fatal for dogs thing, if the drool wasn't here, so THANK YOU to
everyone who ever posted about it! It's quite possible that this list is
responsible for saving my friend's beagle!
