Grand Marshall 2009 
Pw. Xandy Bear Wilder 
My first annual duty is to declare the Grand Marshall...and I do so, now. It is 
my pleasure to announce that the committee has had long, agonizing meetings and 
considered this very carefully. (The slaves went to breakfast.) This is a 
serious obligation and one not to be entered into lightly. The Grand Marshall 
waddles in the pawprints of ten predecessors who have each fulfilled their year 
of service and beyond. Her duties will commence with being invested as Grand 
Marshall on April 17. 2009 in Ocean City, New Jersey, followed by leading the 
Bassets in the Ocean City Doo Dah Pawrade on April 18, 2009. It is with great 
pleasure and as much dignity as I can pretend to have that I proclaim the Grand 
Marshall for BoardWaddle shall be Pw. Xandy Bear Wilder-Wilder!
Pw. Xandy Bear is the first Grand Marshall to not be a rescue houndie, 
since...well, since my breeder slaves earned me the title, back in 2001. GM2B XB 
was born of ChdawGs , on July 13, 2002 to breederslaves that had hopes for her 
to follow that path. A little overbite later, she and her sisters were 
introduced to the blondeslave and her husband. The humans were sad because their 
beloved basset, Xandy Two, had gone to the bridge. GM2B Pw. Xandy Bear took on 
the arduous task of making them happy. What she did not know was that there were 
hounds in the world that were unloved, abandoned and abused. She learned this at 
BoardWaddle five..and resolved to train her humans to do everything in their 
power to assist Tri-State Basset Rescue to help the poor houndies.
This included letting some of them into her home. A month after her first 
BoardWaddle, a crazed foster who came to be known as Huggie Bear invaded. 
(Hugmonster if you asked feyfey) Putting up with the torment of being treated 
with great disrespect, GM2B allowed the new arrival to stay..as it secured the 
involvement of the heslave on her rescue mission. 
Thereafter, GM2B Pw. Xandy Bear Wilder was asked to pawticipate in an arranged 
marriage to Mr. Blueberry Wilder. This was at the request of the City of Ocean 
City which welcomes the BoardWaddle each spring. The wedding took place in the 
main hall of Trump Marina Hotel and Casino and the officiants were a judge and 
television pawsonality, Bob Eubanks. The bride wore a wedding tiara and pearls. 
The groom was resplendent in a tuxedo. Hundreds of guests were in attendance and 
a reception followed, complete with cake, champagne, gifts and piped in Johnny 
Mathis music. (You can't make this stuff up!) Although the couple lived 
separately, they shared a mutual purpose of helping homeless hounds that 
cemented their love.
At BoardWaddle 2004, the blondeslave fell in love with a hound who had been 
dubbed Moosie by Tri-State. The slaves adopted him at the Board Waddle picnic 
and brought him home to become the 3rd Bear.
GM2B's life changed since she abandoned her hopes of being a ChdawG and devoted 
her life to being a philanthropist and supporter of Rescue. Her social life 
became increasingly more hectic with many events to attend each year and the 
push to raise more pledges to help the homeless hounds. Life has not always been 
easy, beloved Pwince Blueberry contracted a terrible disease 3 years ago and 
went to the Bridge far too soon. The widowed GM2B has added 2 more rescue hounds 
to her family, wee Gracie Allen the vampire/serial killer the summer of 2005 and 
Clyde Kadiddlehopper in 2006. Clyde, although from humble beginnings, also has a 
philanthropic streak which is encouraged. The GM2B is generally pleased with her 
choice to rescue the two sad humans and looks forward to many more years of 
supporting Rescue and helping other hounds who aren't as fortunate as she.
Please join me in congratulating BoardWaddle Grand Marshall 2B Pwincess Xandy 
Bear Wilder-Wilder. May she have a prosperous and successful year of service!
