[Dailydrool] Hunting Bassets

PW Harley Chick and Fred have both gone hunting.  Not with guns, but hunt
tests run by the American Hunting Basset Association.  Off lead.  They
survived.  They had a good time.  The bassets are sent out in packs of no
more than six hounds,with the handlers following or leading and ncouraging
the dogs.  A handler may put a lead on a dog at any time that they think
the dog is in danger or distress.

The people that I met are wonderful basset breeders and owners.  It was
such fun to be out in the field and watching the hounds do what comes
naturally.  I really miss it, but it's not in the cards for us right now.

I suppose training for a good recall would be in order and some exposure
to the noise of guns under a controlled environment.  If the guy is a
decent hunter, he'd probably know that anyway.
