[Dailydrool] dogs remembering

I have to agree with Abner's Mommy in saying that dogs do remember. Anytime
a man enters our house (a friend of my husband) who has black hair Mazzie
will bark uncontrollably and cower down. She will then urinate. Mazzie also
will cower down if a hand is moved up in the air near her too quickly as if
someone was going to back hand someone (as in hit her). The Humane Society
told us that she was abused before and that she was a stray whose owner they
tracked down. They said he was foreign, had black hair and his wife and kids
had left him, and he signed her over to the shelter when they called him in
to get her then known as "Daisy." Poor Mazzie will always remember somewhere
in her mind that she was abused by a man with black hair.

We also had a foster that was afraid of rakes. We could not rake our yard
when she was with us. She came from a puppy mill situation so not sure if
her bedding was raked up and the rake was then used on her or what not, but
she was scared to death of them. She had bad memories from a rake, even when
it was my little boy holding the end of the rake--that is how we discovered
she was afraid of rakes.

That is 2 occasions that I have personally witnessed 2 different bassets
allegedly remembering abuse they endured in their short lives as both were
young females at that point--age 2-3 years old. What happened to an eye for
an eye?
