Bassets may not be natural swimmers but some of them can swim. When we had our first two, we took them to a lake and put them in the water to see what would happen. We were in with them so we could hold them up. One sank like a stone and the other one took off and was a great swimmer. That was their only swimming experience but I think they enjoyed it cause we were in there with them.

We have also had a basset who loved baths. Sassy loved being in the tub. She would fall asleep and start to fall over while we were washing her. Somewhere I have a picture of her leaning over in the tub. She loved the warm water and all the rubbing.

Our first two girls were really good natured. They were littermates and were just the best dogs we have ever had or seen. They would let kids give them the once over without moving or complaining. They were so good that they got their teeth cleaned without anesthesia. These girls had really bad gums and had to have their teeth cleaned all the time. We lived in the UK then and when we picked them up from their first cleaning it didn't cost more that $15 for both. When I asked why it was so cheap they said they just cleaned them without putting them under. I guess when they looked in their mouths they didn't protest so they cleaned them like that. They were two of the sweetest bassets who ever lived.

Since boyslave #1 has moved back home I am no longer a person of interest to bassets unless I have food. They all want to be with him or sleep on him. I now am the object of cat affection which I could do without. They make me sneeze. Every morning now Picasso comes and paws me in the head to wake me up. Then he walks on me or rubs. I really don't like cat hair.

We are sending drool to all in need. There is a lot of lunch drool in here right now.

Ninja, Marley, Maggie, Shelby, the kitties, and the mom and Sassy, Daisy, Sherlock, Sunny all ATB
