[Dailydrool] I am scared and need advice

Sorry, I forget the name of the Drooler who wrote about her dog with back
trouble.
Please take your dog's foot and turn it over. Does it stay there or
immediately get righted? If it does not turn back right away, you could have
a serious problem. You need to get your dog to a back specialist as quickly
as possible.
When our Abner plopped down unexpectedly, looking surprised, I knew bassets
were prone to back trouble and ran him right over to the vet. I had my
husband call and let them know we were coming, and I just went. My vet sent
me right along to a back specialist. Today, two years later, Abner walks,
dances, and is usually happy. Just a little latent trouble when the weather
changes.
To ANYONE who notices ANY kind of possible back trouble, I suggest you do
this. You have a small window of opportunity with back problems. Time makes
a huge difference in what kind of recuperation your hound has.
Having said that, I must admit that when I flopped Abner's foot, minutes
after this happened, he seemed OK. By the time I got to the vet's, he was
having trouble righting the foot. A vet visit is really important, even if
you think things are not too bad.
The only reason I knew any of this was because I'd read the Drool. I'm just
trying to pass the information on and hope it helps. I'm not really trying
to scare anyone.
