[Dailydrool] Bassets in KY in Need

Because we have 2 families returning adopted bassets to us (dogs are disrupting their lifestyles now...grrrrr....), we cannot help the 4 in shelters we have been asked to take.  We have 2 quiet stray males--one tricolor and one black and tan, both about 4 yrs old-in Nelson County (Bardstown, KY) [I have pix of them] and a mother and son pair in another shelter.  The AC officer called me yesterday asking for help with these as he has had his eye on them for about a year.  The owner was not caring for them and when they turned up stray, he picked them up and, while he legally has to hold them for 5 days, he is hoping they are not claimed.  He said they're about 3/4 yrs old.

We are also getting Pearl, a chubby breeder girl dumped at a shelter as her useful life is gone (according to the breeder.)  She has been fully vetted so if anyone out there--like another rescue--wants to take her, her pull fee was only $150 [all vet work done] and she seems like she'd make a great pet.  Estimate is her age is around 5 but her teeth are awful.  She is dragging the ground so a tummy tuck would be nice but hopefully she'll tighten up as her Mama days are over for good!

I know it looks like we have only a few dogs--8 on our website--but there are 20+ behind the scenes who will never get adopted and we have a huge vet bill from their on-going care.
