[Dailydrool] Sensitive tum dog food suggestions & allergies

Our Alexis had a very sensitive tummy. We went through diarrhea periodically
with her. Finally I figured that it was mostly related to food changes. As
long as she stayed on the same food, she was fine, but if we altered it at
anything but a very slow pace, she got the squirts again.

I could change my other dogs over in a week, but it took me at least two or
three to get Alexis on a new food. After all these years, I don't remember
what we were feeding her, but I know it was just the high-grade regular dog
foods. I think you'll have to figure out what does well for your
hound--perhaps a lower fat food or one that lacks an irritating ingredient
(could it be allergy related?). Then stick with that food as long as you
can. Has your dog had a recent change that could have caused the trouble?

For those whose hounds are suffering with allergies, remember that you have
to eradicate EVERYTHING with the allergen from the dog's diet. Our Belvedere
is allergic to corn. The only reason it took me so long to get it under
control was that I missed out on the fact that some treats have things like
cornstarch in them--it doesn't just do to eradicate the main ingredient
problem if you have a small amount that you're constantly feeding in treats.
Once I moved to totally safe treats, Bel had no problem. He's been that way
for years.
