[Dailydrool] Rain, rain go away...

I know people are rarely happy with whatever weather extremes they are dealing with.? Honest, I do.? I know Seattle Washington is having the mother of all heat waves, and some other areas are also battling heat and drought conditions.? I send temperate weather drool to you.? Really.

We here in the Garden State are having what is known as a landscaper's dream of a summer. We're experiencing almost daily and sometimes twice or three times daily thunderstorms accompanied by monsoon rains. When it isn't raining the air is stifling with humidity.? Lawns and shrubbery are growing with a vengeance - we're thrilled that we no longer have to deal with that.? We do, however, have to deal with recalcitrant Bassets who are less than thrilled about venturing out in inclement weather.? Since giving up our fenced yard and doggie door we've worked hard to establish a routine of sorts for our daily hound constitutionals so should they get an "urge," they know a walkie is coming.? That doesn't, however, do anything for the looks of disdain which are forthcoming from some of our pack.? It's like "You do see that it is raining out there, don't you?? We DO NOT walkie in the rain!"? After which the planting of fat, frog feet begins, followed by the shoving of four Basset heinies out the door.? 

The first time this occurred they displayed their displeasure by coming back in after a walk during which they did NOTHING and at least two of them doing stealth poops while we weren't paying attention, the spiteful @^$(*%.? Thank Dawg for hardwood and tile floors... In this house, the only access door for houndage is the front door - and like it or not, they cross that threshold and forge ahead and they haven't melted yet.
