[Dailydrool] sitting-down to potty? older Basset aggression

In 1990 we got a 7 week old Dachshund puppy who sat down when he peed. It was quite amusing and he grew out of it.

Our 9 year old Maggie doesn't tolerate puppies well, never has. We also got her at 7 weeks, though I'm not sure that it was
the lack of socialization. We have a 9 year old Beagle who is the sweetest girl with babies.

None of our young dogs are let out with Maggie until they have a clear understanding that Maggie is the boss and they (puppies) need to
stay clear. Maggie very rarely "plays" with the younger dogs. Maggie actually very rarely plays. Unless her idea of play is to chase the young ones
away from whatever Maggie believes is hers. And God help the dog that is digging in the yard if Maggie decides to investigate and the younger dog doesn't scatter.

Once the youngsters have learned Maggie Manners they are allowed out with her under adult supervision. Maggie will occasionally "roar" at one of the younger dogs but she has never actually laid a tooth on one of them.

I think it is a lot to ask of a 10 year old to be wonderfully tolerant of a 3 month old. Kind of like asking a 60 year old to hang out all day every day with a 6 year old.
Might be fun for awhile but it can tire you out real fast.

Also none of my young dogs are allowed roaming privileges when I'm not around until I know they can be trusted with "things" like my computer, or stuff on the table. For some dogs this can take years. Heck, my 7 month old basset baby boy can't be trusted when I am standing there watching him.
