[Dailydrool] Senior Sale

I have some mixed feelings on this. During my time as a volunteer for Basset Rescue, I adopted 7-8 senior hounds. I paid the adoption fee for each one. It was important, to me, to do that. I was offered each one, for no fee, but I felt that if I could not manage to pay a fee that was lower already due to their age, I could not afford to care for them. That is my personal take on this.
I do feel in general, if someone has been screened as a normal adopter should be, then it is between the rescue and that person. But if an adopter flat out requests a no fee, that would make me apprehensive about their motives and ability to care for that senior/special needs.
While the seniors within Senior Houndsabound are here for their lives, I do have them up for adoption. Do I think that would ever happen, not likely, but for a couple of them, I know they would be happier in a home with less hounds. We have adopted 3 hounds total in almost 2 yrs, and I do charge an adoption fee. I think it is important, all around, but I do accept there are exceptions to my way of doing things.
