We have had playful bassets, grouchy bassets, unplayful bassets but with the girls here now we have talking bassets. None of our others have done this. Maggie gets very jealous if we touch anyone but her and she talks to us about it. It sounds really pitiful. She talks about her bowl before it is put on the floor. She talks when we touch something she doesn't like--paws or chest. And she is very loud when she does this. It is very high pitched considering what a big girl she is.

Marley talks to us when we first come home from anywhere. We talk back to her like we are having a conversation and she keeps going. You can tell she is put out with us for not staying home all the time. She also talks when she is picked up. Nic picks her up and cuddles her and it sounds like she is going to take his head off. What a hateful noise. She doesn't mean it but she has to express herself. She also talks when the DH picks her up. She usually sits in his chair so if he wants to sit down, he picks her up and puts her in his lap. She loves it but has to grump to keep up her reputation as the resident crab.

Shelby is also quite vocal when she wants something. Today I came home from teaching Vacation Bible School( a group who could make me say very not nice words) Shelby wanted to go out but I was too busy talking to the boys. She was talking to me and I was ignoring her so she got louder and more forceful. She kept telling me what she wanted. Finally I let her out and she almost made it off the patio. For such an old girl, she has taken all of us in stride and enjoys her life. She also snarked at Marley today before Marley could snark at her. She is getting braver. Way to go Shelby! I also figured out that the garbage hound is none other. We have a short can in the family room that is usuall turned over when no one is in here. The contents are artisticly arranged on the floor. I have been blaming Maggie because she just kind of does things and runs into things and knocks things over. Today, while I was on the phone, Shelbs put her cute little teeth on the edge of the can and was edging it onto its side while I watched. So much for her innocent little self. I'm glad she feels comfortable enough to do something like that.

Ninja is not a talker. She just watches and keeps tabs on everyone. She also tells off 4 leggers who aggravate her. She talks by touching. She is next to me now with her feet on me. She gets an occasional belly rub and that keeps her happy.

Snooters and drool to all in need from Ninja, Marley, Maggie and Shelby with the Mom
