[Dailydrool] A real scare

Boy, did Charlie give me a real scare today. We were working out in the
year today with both Ben and Charlie in the yard with us. Naturally we
would go in and out of the gate to do things, closing the gate each time,
leaving the dogs in the yard. When we went to go in the house, we could
not find Charlie. We started looking all over for him, calling his
name. No luck. Looked in the house, upstairs, the basement, no Charlie. I
started to get sick. Sent son out the front gate to check the yard and
sidewalks in front and the wife to check out in the alley, calling his
name. I redid the house, now really getting worried. He is 13 and walks
slow so would have no chance crossing the street. Just having lost Cheyene,
the chance of losing Charlie petrified me. He is my little old man, and
first basset. I start outside again, heart pounding, I hear wife shouting
"I found him." I was waling on a cloud with happiness. The little guy had
crawled behind the shed and made himself a nice bed in the dirt and
went to sleep. It is a very narrow space, and he had got himself stuck a
bit. I was so relieved I could not be upset with him. Never a dull momnet
with bassets.
