[Dailydrool] Heartbroken

Today, Lucy (age 13.5) had a routine dental. When I picked her up the vet asked
to see me in the back. While on the table the tech had noticed a bulge in her
abdomen. The vet palpated it and decided that it did not feel right. He did an
x-ray. Lucy has a softball size mass on her spleen, probably hemangiosarcoma.

Our options are these: have her undergo major abdominal surgery at 13.5 to
remove her spleen, hope there are no metastasis and that she survives the surgery
and recovery OR do nothing and she will die of internal bleeding anytime.

She is acting fine. She still loves her walks and food. She sorta plays with
Eli (she stands, Eli lays under her and they play alligator mouth) In short,
there is no indication that she has a mass on her spleen.

I am paralyzed with indecision. The surgery to save her is very likely to kill
her but to do nothing is certain death. I am not in a good place right now.
Given my feelings of guilt about Eyson I really want to do the surgery but how
can I knowing that she may die on the table or in recovery.

I would appreciate your thoughts and advice. A lot of you have been through this
before and I need the support.
