Hi Lisa,
Our vet has always been clear about the need to keep weight off our basset
babies. She says that once its on, its hard to get off. She also says that
the recommended feeding schedule on most bags of food is wrong. Our dogs get
one cup of food in the morning and one in the evening, along with about 4
cookies each day. Occassionally, they'll eat carrots, cheese, pizza crust,
those snacks they love.

It sounds like he may be a big guy after his Dad. But I would check with
your vetperson to be sure of the recommended feeding amounts for your
individual dog.
