[Dailydrool] Dear Elsinore

Dear Roland,

Our Elsinore has asked me to tell you that she's surprised by how
much you two have in common--and that you forgot to add that both of
you also live with a basset of the opposite sex. Stella B. Low keeps
you in line, and young Charlie makes sure Elsinore doesn't get bored.

Neither Elsinore nor I knew that you were named for the hero in
Chanson de Roland. "Chanson" means "song," and Elsinore is a very
good singer. She can bring tears to her listener's eyes when she
sings to my piano playing. Do you like to sing, too? If so, then
that's one more thing you two have in common.

When I read your message to her, Elsinore wondered if you might
possibly be flirting with her, despite your attachment to Dixie.
She'd like for me to make it quite clear that she's not the kind of
hound who would hone in on another hound's honey. She would, however,
be most happy to count you as one of her friends. One can never have
too many friends, you know.

Elizabeth
