[Dailydrool] saving info from the list

Here's another way ... potentially easier ... if you use Outlook (well any
email client should be capable of this)

Leave the "Digest" mode behind

... that is ... usually everyone on the list is in "Digest Mode".
A bunch of posts come into the Drool, one of the mods does a form of
review, and then selects an option to "publish" the posts in the queue.
The mail server then collects the messages, puts them into one big email,
and sends that to everyone who is in "digest mode"

When you are not in digest mode, you get single posts. So when one
of the moderators log in and review then "publish" a copy of each
individual email is sent to those people who are *not* in digest mode.

This way, Ali, you don't have to forward a message to yourself ... its
already an individual message, you just need to sort or move them to a
different folder.

I mention Outlook (or any client) because you can create email rules ...
with the right rule ..... say looking for email from
dailydrool-bounces at dailydrool.org ...you can have your email client move
that incoming email message into a special folder for just drool posts.

And lastly ... outlook versions 2000 and newer ... allow you to edit the
"subject line" without having to do anything special other than opening the
email message. This can help if you want to clarify the subject for saving
those special messages. (and there was a setting in 2000 to 2003 that
allowed you to edit the subject line using outlooks "table" email listing)

The reason I do non-digest mode, is because I can skim faster through
messages using the arrow up/down and scroll wheel on my mouse to read
messages ... if I see a subject I know I can skip, I do so and am onto the
next message.

That tiny URL is a screen capture of what my Outlook looks like ... on the
left side, notice I have a separate PST for just the Daily Drool .. I ended
up having to do this because of the number of emails and overall size of the
mailbox makes my main "mailbox" get too large for outlook to handle
efficiently. Plus it makes archiving and everything else so much more
simple.

And pretty much any email client supports rules these days, plus multiple
folders, multiple top level folders (pst's in outlook - "off line folders"
or something similar in other email clients, even Thunderbird the mozilla
free email client supports them) ... anyone wanting more info just drop me a
note.

Subject: [Dailydrool] saving info from the list

Greetings fellow droolers,

I recently came up with a system for saving information from various posts
(only wish I had started earlier.)
I highlight the post then copy it, click on new e-mail message, paste the
clipboard then send it to myself.
