[Dailydrool] Eye licking and ear biting

I don't know how Annie tolerates Fred sometimes!  When I get home from work, I walk them and then we come inside for dinner.  Fred gets himself all worked up, and starts biting Annie's ears.  I'm assuming that it doesn't hurt, because she usually just stands there and lets him.  Occsionally she'll give him a snap back, but it seems more like she's annoyed (I know I would be!) than hurt.  Is ear biting a basset thing?  Another strange thing that he does is, if Annie is laying on the couch with her eyes closed, he will lick and lick at her eyes...he usually chooses one eye and will keep going at it for minutes at a time.  It doesn't seem to bother her, but I find it kind of gross, and worry that he's going to give her a corneal abrasion (sorry, I'm an optometrist!)  Her eyes don't seem particularly goopy to me when he does it, and I can't for the life of me figure out what he's doing and why it doesn't drive her crazy...any ideas??

Rose, Annie and Fred (our calendars haven't arrived yet...we keep checking, and checking!  We want to look at ourselves on August 18th!!)
