1. In another room, sit, stay, down, stay, go to mat, stay. Treat, treat, treat.

2. In holiday tree room, enter on leash, settle down. Treat, treat, treat. Back out. So nice to have a baby gate and crates! After practice session, Kong in the crate~ Keep sessions short.

3. Back in holiday tree room on dropped leash, sit, down, stand, down, sit - doggie pushups. Get to stay in holiday room under active supervision for 1 full minute. Back out. Treat all good behavior. Any breaks to the tree - crate for 10 - 30 seconds and then back for chance to get it right.

4. Back in holiday tree room on dropped leash, sit, down, stay, go to mat - mat as far from tree as possible, stay - get to stay in holiday room under active supervision for three minutes. Any breaks to the tree - crate for 10 - 30 seconds and then back.

5. Work up duration on go to mat in holiday tree room, work up to 10 minutes with random interval reinforcement. Any breaks to the tree - crate for 10 - 30 seconds and then back.

6. Work on leave its in holiday tree room using treats in hand and on ground. Work up to 20 minutes with random interval reinforcements.

7. Start proofing the tree by doing stays and dancing ornaments using leave it. Reward big time treat for stay. No more than a few seconds in a stay. Any breaks to the tree - crate for 10 - 30 seconds and then back.

7. Extend stay duration on the mat to 30 minutes or napping. Exit and enter room. Continue to proof by dancing ornaments. Use leave it as needed.

Extra: Add sitting in your favorite chair as the cue to go to the mat. Say go to mat and sit down. As the dog gets faster to the mat, drop the verbal.

Add additional steps as needed. Make sure practice sessions are short and time duration builds with random intervals so short intervals are thrown in. Mix up treats and use high value treats such as leftover turkey~
