[Dailydrool] Lowretta's Gotcha Day

Two short years ago today the DH and I drove to Conway, Arkansas, and held in our arms for the very first time the sweetest little basset buppy in all the world.  Her name was Katherine then, soon to be Lowretta Katherine.

Lowretta inspires me to be the best person I can be.  Her sweet spirit helps me be more patient with others.  Her gentle nature lets me know there is good in this world.   Her positions and looks and poses make me slow down and smile.

Lowretta loves to sit in the rain and think.  She loves to try to outsmart Hattie, the squirrel, but never has (and never will).  She loves to chase scents of rabbits long gone on our walks in the pasture.  Lowretta loves to meet new people and is best friends with everyone.  She has become quite a little celebrity in our small town, mainly because someone takes every opportunity to dress her up (which she loves) and get her picture in the local newspaper.

I read something the other day about a Blessing of the Animals event, which applies to Sweet Lowretta and all other houndies.  It goes something like this:  We do not bless the animals to make them Holy.  They are already Holy which makes them worthy to be blessed.

Thanks again to OMBR, Menzie, Sherry, and all the others who had a part in Lowretta's rescue and journey to us.  We are forever, deeply and humbly grateful.
