[Dailydrool] Today's Calendar Photo

Today's calendar photo is Sadie, a senior we adopted from Tri-State Basset 
Hound Rescue after our beloved Kelly passed to the Rainbow Bridge.  Sadie 
looked nothing like Kelly but mimicked her pawsonality in a hundred ways. 
It was uncanny.

Little did we know at the time we sent her picture for the calendar that 
she, too, would be at the Rainbow Bridge by the time "her" date came around. 
She died unexpectedly after recovering very well from the removal of her 
spleen.  Of all the hounds we've adopted through the years, she was the 
first to die at home.  According to her will, no doubt.  She was only with 
us a couple of years, but she was queen.

We miss her as sorely as we missed Kelly; indeed every loss of a furkid 
casts a pall over the household.  But we have always felt that the truest 
way to honor the memory of a departed houndie is to rescue another; hence 
the adoption of Lucy not too long after Sadie's passing.  Amusingly, Lucy 
looks exactly like Sadie (a bit smaller, though) but is NOTHING like Sadie 
in pawsonality.  God has a sense of humor!

While we remember the wonderful years that we had with Sadie, we ask all our 
Drooler friends to consider the joys of adopting seniors and see if there 
isn't room for "just one more."
