[Dailydrool] new babies and old

When we brought home Buttercup, who was about 8 weeks we had 2 older dogs, not bassets.  Francie and Bruno were littermates and very much mixed mutts.  Francie looked more like a smooth coated collie and Brouno looked more a lab mix.  Buttercup looked up at Francie who was sitting on the sofa and trotted over to her and got a low growl and a lip curl,  Buttercup turned her attention to Bruno and within seconds he became her beloved buddy.  He growled and prptested and allowed her chew on him and sleep with hime giving us long suffering looks.  Whhile Francied never hurt  Buttercup she tended to ignore her but she did allow her to follow her around and apparently taught her doggy stuff, one day they unearthed a varmint much to the astonishment of all.  Varmint grumpily skittered off to the woodpile and much sniffeing failed to get it to show it[s face again.  If Francied had lived longer I feel the tow would have eventually bonded more but Bruno remaied abuddy untile he too crossed the rainbow bridge.  His is missed.  Sue L
