Beth,

I would hate to be in this situation and feel for you deeply.
I feel your heart aching in trying to decide what to do for Emma. I hurt for
Emma too!

In my opinion I do not think it is fair of your friend to leave this big of
a burden on you.  I have pet sat many times and I always have the person no
matter how close they are to me to sign and write their instructions.  I
would really hate someone to come back and say how come you didn't call me
or how come this.  So it is in writing.  Well that was not done so no need
to harp on it.  I would call Karen, she needs to know and you who loves Emma
should not be the one to make this decision.  You love Emma like she is your
own, and I think I know what your heart would tell you to do if she was
yours.  Like I said it is not your decision and it is something your friend
should be sharing the grief, the confusion, the ache of your heart.  It's
just not fair to you or Emma for her momma to say "do not call me"

Please know you are in our prayers as well as Emma.  We will send some drool
also that everything works out.  I do hope Emma makes it through, but SHE
KNOWS who has helped her in this time of sickness when she can't ask for
help.  That is YOU!!

I am crying because I feel your pain Beth.  ((((HUGS))))
