[Dailydrool] OMBR has newborn puppies - to HAND-RAISE!

These newborn basset babies need your help, positive thoughts and
prayers. Their mother is Penelope, who came to us last month, very
emaciated and riddled with heartworms.  She received her first
heartworm treatment several weeks ago.  Well, she gained weight, but
only in her belly.  So back to the vet she went, last week, only to
discover that she was due to have pups any day!

She gave birth to nine pups overnight Friday, Sept. 5th.  But she was
so sick and confused, she rejected the pups, even attacking them.  So
on Sunday, the pups were driven to one of our wonderful foster homes,
who has taken on the monumental task of hand-raising these tiny
newborns!

Two of the puppies died, whether from Penelope's attack, or the
conditions in the womb, we'll never know.  But the other 7 are
thriving.

The puppies all need fed every 2 hours, including in the middle of the
night!  Plus, they must all be stimulated to go potty, (which is
something the momma usually does, by licking them).  This is tons of
work, and the supplies we need are very expensive.  Good quality milk
replacer (formula) is going to cost OMBR at least $30.00 PER DAY, an
expense that will only grow as the pups grow and require extra food.
Plus, they need medications, bottles, puppy pads, and soon will
require lots and LOTS of puppy food!

Later will come several de-wormings, several sets of puppy shots, and
eventually, spaying and neutering.  These pups are hoping that you can
help them get a healthy start in life!
