Press release:  The Diva at Home
Miss Angela Basset is now back at her home after a week or more of unsettled living.  Her profligate employee is now back on the job after a period of rank unreliabilty surrounding his 65th birthday (sorry, Bill, no pension plan or mandatory--or even possible---retirement) and the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield.   His willingness to drink large quantities of that nasty brown liquid, play his banjo and sing in a voice so unmelodious as to be an affront to tender basset ears caused him to spend a good deal of time off the job and out of the house.  

Much of the time, Miss Angela spent at the home of her Uncle Chris trying to bring some civility to Lucille the alpha doberman and Ella the bipolar dalmation.  There, she managed to keep out from under the feet of the taller dogs and even grab a place next to Uncle Chris on his couch from time to time.  On a couple of occasions, the Diva was left at home for extended periods (never more than eight hours).  On a couple of these occasions, she expressed her displeasure by leaving precious nuggets on the rug just inside the back door.....a rug that she knows Bill got in Egypt twenty years ago and that she knows he holds in high esteem.  So there!

All that is over now, however, and (except for those awful periods when Bill runs the Dyson or the lawn mower) Miss Angela is settled back into her daily routine.  She received a visit from an old friend from Tucson on Sunday and demonstrated to Bill the amount of affection she could lavish on someone if they would only act as she demanded.  In addition, Miss Angela's friends are also noticing a new, slimmer look as her weight continues to drop.  She has lost about 65% of the amount urged by Dr. Cathy.  Bill, on the other hand, has porked up disgracefully from all the celebration and great camp cooking.  For shame.   Still, we are back to dieting and regular exercise, punctuated by lovely naps.  As the weather cools, Angie becomes much more eager to do her daily mileage.
