rebecca, i got my bassets used to a regular teeth cleaning regime from 
day one , however if you find that your basset wont cooperate, use a 
product called logic [ expensive from the vet] however much cheaper on 
line , you could also give him dental chews with the logic just rub a 
small ammount over teeth regards geoffrey
