[Dailydrool] Lawn chemicals and Basset Tag

I have to agree with Ginny on the lawn chemicals issue. I also live in
Florida and if I didn't treat my yard the boys would have nothing but sand,
fire ants and sand- burs in their yard. Not a very fun place for a hound to
hang out. Like Ginny, once I spray the hounds are not allowed in the yard
until it has dried.being the over protective mother I try to keep them off
the yard for the rest of the day and ½ of the next day (letting the yard dry
out from the morning dew), Plus I wash their paws for a few days after they
come in from the yard. I hate the fact that I have to use the chemicals.but
unfortunately it is a necessary evil here in Florida. As it is when I take
the boys for a walk around the block poor Colt seems to always get a
sand-bur in one of his paws at a certain section in our walk. We walk on the
sidewalk, but somehow seems to manage to find one. I would hate for them to
have this problem in his own backyard.

Terry, I love your idea about putting the hounds ashes in a stuffed animal.
I have a lot of stuffed animal basset hounds that my parents have given me
through the years. What an awesome way to keep my precious hounds with me
when I go..I think that I will also be buried in Basset Pajamas too.

Last night I didn't walk the boys (bad momma) because I had a headache,
ended up behind a truck that was burning serious oil...it jacked up my
sinuses. Anyhooo. The boys have a big backyard to basset 500, chase
squirrels or now the new game is basset tag. The boyz were chasing each
other in the back yard, I watched them for about 10 minutes... It was a
hoot... They were like little brown and white streaks of light. It looked
like they were playing tag, because one would be chasing the other, the
chaser would catch up to the chasee and nip the chasee on the butt and then
they would reverse who was chaser and who was now the chasee. I thought
that my head would explode from laughing so hard at them.

Drool to all in need from Colt "tag, your it" & Ruger "tag, now your it
again"
Hugs to all the human and hounds from the Momma
Have I told you all that I love the drool! There is nothing I like better
than good basset conversations.
