  Hi everyone,
I am mostly a lurker, but I had to pass along this story.
My husband and I stopped at the local humane society last week while
waiting for my inlaws flight to arrive. We made it past all the dogs
(barely) and were about to head out the door when a woman came walking
in with a small basset in tow. My husband groaned. Of course I went
running over to see the basset and the woman loudly announced the she
was returning the dog because "he wasn't working out." The little
basset was really shy, but I did give him an ear rub and tried to ask
the lady what was wrong with him. She replied gruffly again the he
wasn't working out.
My husband dragged me away.
I checked back on Saturday and found out the "Henry" had been adopted by
someone else. I asked why the first lady returned him and staff person
told me that the woman wanted a guard dog! and "Henry wasn't the right
dog!" I laughed and so did the staff person. I hope little Henry went
to a much more basset friendly home. He looked like all he would do to
an intruder is ask for a belly rub.
