This is a really interesting article if for no reason other than it seems as
if the author is drawing conclusions from erroneous information. It seems to
me he is ASSUMING that the unpredictability that his Basset exhibits is the
norm, and it is not. Bassets are generally not snappy, irritable dogs, not
really. We had one who was similar to the dog in the article only did not
have seizures, and I have to wonder if the dog in the articles's moments of
snappy, growly behavior are not more closely related to the seizures than
his temperament.
Ours was also unpredictable only in that you didn't know WHEN he was going
to bite you-- it was a given that sooner or later, he would. He was as
abnormal in temperament as they come.

I do, however, love the idea that the shepherd is left-brained and the
basset right-brained, and it fits right  in with my observations of the
differences in Cooper and the Bassets boyz.

MomPerson who cannot blink without Cooper knowing, but who can slip in dog
poop and fall without drawing a glance from the others...
