How can we donate to help Leslie and the cold rescued  bassets?

I'm voting for them every day in the shelter challenge, but  how can I give
money to help them right now?

If everyone reading this sent just $5 or $10, Leslie could  afford to buy
propane to heat the houndies, instead of using her oven and a  fan.

Please let us know where to send our contributions to turn  cold bassets
into snuggly warm ones.

Beth H.

P.S. keep voting for them (Basset Rescue of Montana) in the  shelter
challenge, too:

We have been severely lurking since August (new job is kicking butt).  But
we are still catching some of the Drool, and here are our comments to prove
it:

Dana, please do not breed your bassets!  The HSUS estimates that 70,000
puppies and kittens are born each day.  There are 4-5 million dogs and
cats euthanized in shelters every year.  That comes out to 513 animals EACH
HOUR.  Of course, you are going to take great care of your dogs and their
puppies.  But what about after that?

If you didn't look at the photos of Peanut and Peaches, you should!  Those
are two adorable buppies.

We hope the beagles find a home!  I picked up a bloodhound once on I-40
during a relay for a basset.  He jumped in the front seat with Jolie and
me.  Clyde was in the back, and he didn't like other dogs.  Drove the
bloodhound to Memphis, dropped off Clyde, got a call on the way back to
Little Rock that someone was missing their bloodhound.  They got my number
from a corner store where I stopped to see if anyone knew about the
bloodhound.  Met his mom and gave him back.  Basically, I think he just
wanted a ride to Memphis and back!  Sweet guy.

Sounds as if Max the buppy is doing well.  Good job, Diane!

Hopefully Kiwi turns up safe and sound in CA!  Glad to know Miss Maggie
perked up at the vet.  Hang in there, seniors!

We have officially adopted Noodle, who has been a foster at our home since
May.  She is a funny little girl that we have loved from the beginning.  She
and her sister were abandoned in a back yard, with neighbors tossing food
and water over the fence for a month.  Her sister Bella found a wonderful
forever home with Rhonda back in Memphis.  As Leanne says, it's not a case
of "foster failure" when a basset finds a forever home.  Now we are TOTALLY
full in this little condo:  three bassets, one cat, and two hedgehogs (yes,
I got one for my class and it had a baby!).  Sometimes I just look around
and KNOW that I married the right guy.  He is such a sweetheart!

sending love from Little Rock,
Susan, Gracie Girl, Beau, Noodle (me so happy!), Doze, Miss Snugglepuff and
baby Strawberry

Momma here. Its getting close!! Waddle Time in South Carolina, and boy let me tell you, getting this household ready is a chore. The hounds have set out the alert. Hubby will be off work to be home with the gang and I have been cooking up a storm--for the hounds-TV dinners for hubby--LOL--and when the muffin pan came out, Clara's ears went up. I take papercups and have her daily pills all ready for her and set the cups in a muffin pan so all hubby has to do is check the marking and pour it in. This will be a quick trip, I will be leaving at o-dark-thirty Friday morning and it will be afternoon when I hit the waddle town. I wont be able to stay for the waddle on Sunday, as it is 500 miles for me and I have to work Monday, but I am looking forward to meeting so many good drool friends.
Pw Elder Clara will be the one I will worry about, she hates when I am gone, so I am sure she will be giving hubby a fit. Good thing he can ride the mop as well as I can. Clara will keep him busy.

Now on to business.
Drool for Fiona and that poor earflap. Gosh, we hope the new meds help, and get things back to feeling good.
Drool for Maggie. We have all been in that spot--the call that we make to the vet, sure this is the end and to have them frollick in the vets door cured as you drive over the curb. Bassets--you have to love them!!

Julie, looking forward to seeing you and the hounds--my Honda Element is ready to go also!!
Nancy thank you for the info on the FDA--as we find out more we will sure post. This is something we all need to keep a eye on. it seems there is alot of rumblings on this.

Okay, Marlene, take care of those beagles--that is it for now.

Drool to all in need!!

We made a small donation to help pay for Henry's surgery; good luck
little guy!

Otis and Nelly nominated their Lieutenant Friend Roger to be on the
Howliday Cards list this year.
He is in Kandahar and won't be home for a long time. He is a very good
basset adorer and devotee of the
Look, Bellyrub, and Snooter. We hope he will get cards; they will
thrill him and his companions there.

It is getting cold here and Otis and Nelly are hunkeriing down for
winter hibernation; not much interest in the deer poop or chipmunk
tracking these days.
We wish you all good drool and healing magic for the ailing and sad.
How is that corn-cob-blocked adorable rescue doing now?! Gaining more
weight? (can't remember name; I am losing it some days!)
Linda, with Otis and Nelly

Hi furends!  So I read about the great deeds that KOE does, however I have a
question.

It says you can add it to rinse water or to a cleaning solution but to not
add it to bleach because it takes away the effectiveness.....What have you
mixed it with?

Thanks!

Sweet Gracie's age they are guessing is 6 to 7 years. heartworm
positive . weight 22 pounds I do not have down if she is altered.
She is either just very scared at being at the shelter or someone has
hurt her in the past - she cowers badly when you go to do anything
with her regardless of how slowly you move and give encouragement to
her. Can you help her pleaseeeeeeeeeee  ???

Hello everyone and Happy Holidays from 4 The Hounds!
We are auctioning a beautiful 14k gold and emerald ring to raise funds for 4 The Hounds!
This ring was a kind donation from a wonderful supporter.
Take a look and picture this on your finger!
The link to the eBay auction site is http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330501920244
Also, please read the e-mail below from Gail Sutton, our Vice President, about Hope, our newest basset girl.
Her story will break your heart.
If you can spare a small donation for her please check out the donation information below.
As always, thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
A picture says a thousand words.
Please meet Hope.
Hope was dumped by her previous owner a few months ago.
She has been living on garbage all this time.
But for the grace of God she does not have heartworm.
She is estimated to be about five.
As you can see she is all skin and bone.
A good Samaritan saw her roaming and looking for food.
He picked her up and started to cry.
Hope had the good fortune to be picked up by a man who already has a rescued basset and bloodhound.
He brought Hope home to his wife.
She contacted me and said she would do all she could for home and foster her.
I know it is right before the holiday's but if you can even give a few dollars it will help.
Hope needs a lot of care, special prescription diet and many vet visits.
She was named Hope by her foster Mom.
It is so fitting don't you think?
Please if you can help you can send a check directly to Gladys at,
4 The Hounds Basset Rescue

Reeds Spring, MO 65737
or you can go to our site at,
