I spent most of the day putting up outside lights to make to
house look festive.  Apparently in my
haste, I left to gate wide open.  Oliver
went out around dinner time.  When Oliver
had not returned to the door after a short while, I went out to check on him.  It is a cold night and I didn’t expect him to
tarry long.  When I noticed the gate open
I ran toward the street in my socks, yelling frantically.  No Oliver!
I ran back in the house, called the parents and grabbed shoes and a
flashlight.  Back out on the sidewalk the
flashlight caught a white tip on the tail of what appeared to be a certain hound.  He finally looked up and came lumbering in my
direction.  Still hyperventilating, I
ushered him back inside.  I am still
shaking.  So careless of me!  He is now sacked out on the couch – No doubt
dreaming about his evening adventure.  I
am SO thankful that he didn’t go very far.
Bless his heart, his nose slows him down!
