[Dailydrool] Routine and Walkies

Rebecca: for what it is worth - my Bassets (and, indeed, most of my pet sitting clients too) seem to thrive on routine. We walk the same route every morning. I take the 3 younger Bassets out first, then the almost-2-year-old with the dachshund, and last, my 15-year-old, who just walks slowly around the cul-de-sac, usually leaving a huge present at a neighbor's, which I promptly bag up. Every time I do this, I know the dogs are thinking I find their poop oh-so-special and am saving it for DoG knows what!

My point is that they really like the routine. They want their breakfast, walkies, naps, playtime, naps, Basset 500 in the backyard, dinner and naps before bedtime! The only time we have upset is when the routine is broken (i.e. visitors-a happy break in routine-or VET visits-an unhappy break in routine!)

I think if I asked them where they wanted to go or let them lead me around, they would just do the usual walk every day!

With all the bad weather reports I guess I am glad we live in Florida......til about June-August when the humidity is 100% and the temp hovers around 100 degrees! Keep warm and don't loose any short dogs in snowdrifts!
