[Dailydrool] Drool, please!

After dinner last night, DH was handing out a couple of treats to the
girls -- and Gabby DIDN'T take one!?!
We immediately got down on her level and were shocked to see that her
eyes were almost completely red.
It looked like she could only see out of the top 1/4 of her eyes. She
was also shaking and drooling (she almost NEVER drools).
So, we packed up both Gabby and Misty (can't leave Misty home alone --
separation anxiety issues) and headed to our very-familiar emergency vet
clinic.
Diagnosis is glaucoma in her right eye -- the pressure reading was 60.
The left eye was normal pressure.
So we left her there overnight so they could put an IV in and start drug
therapy. By 11:00 p.m., the pressure had dropped somewhat.
Checking in this morning, I heard that the drop was only temporary --
and a second dose of the meds had no effect.
So, after they consulted with a canine eye specialist, they are trying a
different med (one that they don't even keep on hand at the clinic).
Since she's Addisonian, I took over her prednisone this morning and am
waiting to hear the next bulletin from the clinic.
Please sling some drool her way -- DH, Misty and I could use some too, I
think!
