[Dailydrool] Sally's New Year Update - Home from the Vet but new concerns

Thanks to all for the healing drool for Sally after her scuffle with Beau.
She is home from the vet now and resting semi-comfortably. We have to give
her Cipro twice a day for the next 10 days, as well as Deramaxx for pain.
The left side of her face is swollen and she's still dribbling a bit of
blood from her mouth.

My big concern now is that they are going to continue to fight. The scuffle
that brought Sally into the hospital on New Year's Eve started with her
whining, and then Beau starting growling at her, and then they took off in a
fight. I thought Sally was whining at ME to fix her treat faster (because
that's what I was doing when this happened). Now at least I know that the
whining is what sets Beau off and if he starts growling back at her then I
know we're approaching danger so I've been trying to keep a close watch on
them and nip any of that in the bud.

Another concern is Sally's whining ... I can understand that she's whining
now because she's in quite a bit of pain from having her tooth extracted and
maybe she's frightened of Beau and whines in his presence out of fear? But
as far as I know, she WASN'T in pain prior to the fight and her whining came
from nowhere. I'm hoping it is something as simple as that she was bored and
was begging for a walk, or begging for her treat or attention from me and
Beau just misinterpreted her whining (which was the vet's best guess). But
we're all sort of on edge right now and perhaps I'm reading too much into it
all. The whining only seems to happen when I am between the dogs -- my
husband doesn't elicit this type of reaction. Perhaps I'm the problem??

There is never a dull moment with these hounds ... I'm enjoying the quiet
right now as Beau sleeps next to me on the couch and Sally sleeps quietly in
her chair on the other side of me!

Drool to those in need,
Emily
