Time for puppy class!

Even if you have more dog experience than Cesar Milan, puppy class is always going to help with your new puppy! At the least, it will help them with socialization to other dogs and people, at the best, you end up with all the basics, such as sit, come, down, loosh leash, in place.

To find a good trainer in your area, you can email me for a referral, or you can go to www.apdt.org and search for one nearby. You can also go to a local pet store or vet and watch people go in and out with their dogs and when you see one that is doing really well with behavior and seems very comfortable and happy about it, ask them where they went!

It is often difficult to bring in a new, younger dog into the life of an older dog. There are a lot of tricks and tips that local trainers can give you, such as rewarding the older dog for even looking at the puppy and keeping them separated except when you are able to supervise and encourage cooperative play.

Again, the bassetbehavior at yahoogroups.com list is a great place to go with specific questions!

Best*
