It's been a long time since we posted. But we read all the time!
I figure this new year I will keep more in touch!

Santana is now 3 years old and a love snuggle bunny bug!
We had issues with him limping since he was about 6mths. He is on the
bigger side of most bassets, not just weight but he is husky huge
chest and shoulders and hips. It continued on up until he was 18mths.
It started with this right front leg, took him to the vet immediately
read about Pano so I was armed. This vet told me oh no can't be that
he is not a large breed dog, he might have hurt it a little and it's
sprained. Rimadyl she gave us and we were on our way. We limited his
activity and only let him use the stairs for bed time and got him a
set of stairs for our bed too. Like I said he is the BEST snuggler,
puts me right to sleep. It went away and them his other leg started
him limping. Took him back to the vet, she then admitted he was a
large breed dog oh yes in deed she said I was like wait a few months
ago...then I said oh nevermind! She said it was Pano more Rimadyl and
limit his activity. He was definately in his growing stages and was
growing fast! Then he had his annual check up took him in. They
asked about the limping and I said it came back but its Pano. Then
she wanted to do xrays. Took one look at the xrays and said oh no
take him to the surgeon specialist his elbows do not align. She gave
me the name fo the place and sent us on our way with xrays. I then
asked a lot of DD's out there and they told me hold off!!! He is a
growing boy its Pano. Someone explained it to me that made sense.
Bassets are like dwarfs. Big bodies and small legs of course their
elbows do not align why put your boy through that mess! Give him a
year and if it's still there then go to the specialist. Well it went
away! I am glad I didn't put him through an uneeded surgery.

We solved our litter box dilema with buying one of those litter boxes
with a whole on the top and a lid. $35 later i realized I co uld have
made one of these out of those storage bins they have out rigiht now
for Christmas. Just cut a hole big enough for the cat with a utility
knife and you are good to go. Wait the cat is good to go lol
However Santana figured that out! He would bend his body over into
the hole just enough to get something! So I was beat!
Went to the goodwill found a little table that with about 12inch legs
and put the litter box on top of that! now they just sit and watch
the cat go. They as in Lilly and Santana!

Lilly is doing great, she is 1 year old we believe as of November
according to her Rescue papers. She is our OEBE future member! You
hear that Roland? We will need a new floor in the laundry room thanks
to her! I lost 3 back scratchers, 4 pairs of slippers, Remote
control, stairs to our deck, Cordless phone base charger, numerous
ornaments, baby gate, dining room chair...the list goes on! She is a
destroyer not an eater thank DoG! We love her like no other and are
so glad we rescued her. She is a sneaky one! Hopefully when it warms
up she will get more walks, and my legs will be back in working order!

Drool to everyone who needs it and Happy new year!
