Mazzie has to spend the night at the vets' tonight. The vet wants to be sure
that her bladder does not collapse. He has inserted different catheters in
her and dyes and air and messed around so much that he needs to be sure that
she can urinate on her own before releasing her back to me. So, no stones at
all. The x ray with the dye showed no bumped out tumors. On to the next
step. Now the vet states that a malgignant tumor could be in her bladder
wall. So, he kept Mazzie over night--is going to give her alot of Furosemide
tomorrow and will make sure she can urinate alot. He is waiting for hubby
and I to decide one of two options (1) make a small incision and cut her
open and take out her bladder for him to examine it to see if he sees any
cancer or (2) send out to cytology from what he collects in a urine due to
the fact that cancer sluffs off in the urine cells or something to that
affect. The difference is that cytology takes about 10 days to get results
back and he would "know" immediately if something did not look right with
the bladder. I think we have decided to go with option 2 because she is
very, very sore as is. She has her fusion already to deal with (which has
gotten worse as shown in the x-ray), and if it is true as in humans that
once the cancer hits air that it speeds up and spreads faster so to speak.
We feel that it would be selfish of us to make her go through a surgery for
our benefit just so we didn't have to wait 10 days.

Oliver is now being treated with anti-inflammatories to treat his swollen
neck lymph nodes for 7 days with prednisone. If after those 7 days nothing
changes then he will need a biopsy. He has not lived a long enough life to
let it be the "C" word. He is only 2. Not that any age it is ok, but my doG
he is a baby. How could this family possibly be facing two cancer diagnosis
at the same time? I don't understand.

I don't know which was is up or down, left or right anymore. I am just
thankful that the other 3 hounds are doing well.
