[Dailydrool] BABES...I think she really is one after all

Della has been part of the pack for 5.5 years and was always in her  
brother Buford's shadow. She did lots of OEBE-type deeds over the  
years but nothing that I felt was worthy of a title being bestowed  
upon her--not like Buford, OEBE Garbagemeister Extraordinaire.  Since  
Buford departed for the bridge on December 8th, things have changed.   
First, I really started to take notice of this pup--and what a  
wonderful girl she is!  So I started thinking, "Do I have a BABES  
candidate on my hands??"

She waits politely by the refrigerator before breakfast and dinner;

She goes outside when asked if she needs to "go hooray" and returns as  
soon as called;

If a situation becomes stressful she puts herself "to bed" by leaving  
the situation quietly, going upstairs and lying down on my bed--she  
stays there until she is told it is "alright" and then comes back  
downstairs.

She countercruises....sort of.  She lifts her front legs off the floor  
and glances across the counter tops to see what's there.  She has only  
been successful once and that was two days after Buford left us.  If  
told "no cruising" she stops, looks at you and trots off to the dining  
room and waits.

When I eat on the couch in front of the tv (I know, a bad habit) she  
sits next to me, puts her head on my thigh and waits patiently in  
hopes of getting a taste.  She rarely does and when all the food is  
gone she just snuggles in against me and goes to sleep.

Whenever Buford would get sick or start to bloat she would lie down  
next to him in an effort to console him.  She did this especially  
AFTER an episode had passed while he slept deeply.

And the list goes on.  I'm not sure if this is BABES material--perhaps  
is it just a basset with extraordinary sensitivity.  Regardless, she  
is my little angel, that's for sure!
