I am near that vicinity.  I live near where i-64 and i-81 converge.  My daughter's boyfriend lives in Lexington and Staunton is a great town.  Charlottesville is also very nice (I went to school there, and worked there for a while)  The quality of life is very good here.  I think you will like it!
