Someone ate the stash of basset snacks we keep in our room for the late night munchies. I didn't take my own advice and put them in a jar or something solid. They were in a reclosable snack bag. And yup, they are gone. My fault. I think it was Miss Maggie because when I came home she was the only one who didn't come to greet me. She was on the bed curled up on my pillow. Just looking at me when I came upstairs. With the look that says, "Who Me?".

She is so cute it is hard to even look at her without smiling. She wags her tail with her whole body. Her very large smooshie body. She is the happiest basset I have ever met. She is always wagging and smiling. I love my big smooshie basset girl. Shelby is another basset girl who is always happy. She doesn't wag as much as Maggie. She is much more compact and shorter than the other girls. She is also built like a tank. Or a footstool like the guy at the dog park mentioned. She is always mellow and ready for a belly rub or a snack or both. She is a great old girl.

Marley is also sweetie. She is a Daddy's girl. Her previous owner was a guy so maybe that's why she loves the dadperson so much. After dinner every night they get in the easy chair and snuggle. Marley almost becomes a basset blanket and they both snooze. Sometimes she falls over backwards in his arms and he holds her like a baby and rubs her undercarriage. She is a very grumpy girl about a lot of things. But she loves being held and rubbed.

Ninja is a puzzle. She is my devoted shadow. She rarely leaves a room unless I do. She sleeps touching me at night and if I am at the computer she is almost always sitting on my leg. Except for now when Maggie is up here. Ninja is good with her housemates including the cats, most of the time. She lets the cats paw her and will let Picasso sleep close to her tummy. Ninja couldn't stand the cats when my son first got them she gota bloody nose at least once when she got too close. She and Maggie are playing as I type, chasing and barking at the top of their lungs. The fun really gets going when Ninja and Marley get Maggie on her back. They all bellow and chew and chase until someone loses interest and they plop down. Ninja is our guard dog. She won't let anyone near us go unnoticed. That is a good thing. I thought Ninj would bond best with Nic and she does love him. She rode on his leg when we went to get her. He is a very tall kid so his thigh is just about as long as a Ninja. Somehow she has become attached to me. We have had 8 bassets. Ninja is the one who has stuck to me the most. She gives me little kisses and keeps herself near enough to touch most of the time.

We are sending drool and soft snooters to anyone in need.
